Description: Nice tridymite sample with severalk crystals associated to an unknown orange/brown phase. Kaersutite is also present as nice orange crystals.
Active quarry in granite porphyry, granite and gneiss, with rare quartz veins and pegmatites. Quarry walls are very steep and prone to dangerous rock falls. Located 2 km north of Detzeln in the Steina valley (Steinatal). The quarries extend on both sides of the road. The eastern quarry so far produced by far most of the interesting minerals (nearly all in micromount format).
